EU’s Competitiveness pact set to top March Summit agenda

At the European Parliament in Strasbourg¸ MEP’s and the heads of the EU institutions gathered to outline the main agenda for the upcoming EU Summit at the end of March. The ‘competitiveness pact’ a Merkel Sarkozy joint solution to economic harmonisation presented the last EU Summit¸ is set to be the most contentious issue tackled. Guy Verhofstadt believes that it should be launched as an EU initiative at EU level¸ rather than being the result of agreements between the EU27 Member States.
