Gozo, often referred to as “The island of Myths and Miracles”, has been inhabited from 4100 Bc, in fact it has the  oldest free-standing structure in the world, the Ggantija Temples (3600-3000 Bc). Local legend says that this site was built by a giantess called Sansuna and until know it is not clear how those huge stones were quarried and transported in those times.

Gozo is also known as Calypso, because its tradition maintains that the island was in fact the home of the nymph Calypso (on Ogygia Island), as taken from Homer.
