A word with our intern… Nina Pfeiffer

Tunemalta spared a few minutes to talk with Nina Pfeiffer who joined PKF Malta at the beginning of March 2013 for a 3 month internship. Nina is a student at Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences in Germany following the Business Management specialisation.

Is it your first time coming abroad for the internship? Where did you hear about PKF Malta?

Yes¸ it is my first time coming abroad for the internship which is¸ in fact¸ a part of my studies.

During preparations period for the work placement I read a report from a student who did his internship at PKF Malta. I’ve found out more about the company and finally I decided to apply.

How do you like Malta so far? It’s quite different from Germany¸ I guess…

Malta is a very nice country. I think it is a great place for holidays to enjoy the sunny weather. The Maltese people are really friendly and helpful. I like the Mediterranean flair. It seems to be a perfect place to improve English skills.

Compared to Germany¸ Malta is a very small country and a little bit “crazy”. In Germany everything is structured and organized. Malta is more easy-going.

You’ve spend last few weeks working with PKF Malta. What does your day-to-day job involve?

My day-to-day job at PKF Malta involves researching and writing articles (both in German and English language) about various international topics or economic events. I prepare also webcasts specializing in business topics.

What are your career aspirations?

After my studies I will try to find a good-paid and secure job as an accountant. I like to work with figures and Excel.

Let’s talk about your free time¸ what do you enjoy doing the most?

I like to spend my free time with family and friends. I love driving my car¸ go shopping and do sports. In Malta I love to spend time on the beach and enjoy the beautiful weather.

What kind of advice would you give to other students considering applying to PKF?

The internship at PKF Malta is a good opportunity to improve your English skills. The working environment at the company is very pleasant. If I could choose the period of my internship once again¸ I would definitely come to Malta during summer holidays.

I would like to also recommend to the future interns to rent a flat close to the company.
